This unique and powerful form of massage therapy is stimulating, balancing, healing and relaxing. Thai yoga massage combines the use of applied stretches with pressure work along energy channels of the body. Sensitive and effective yoga-style stretches lengthen and relax the limbs, spine and neck, and increase joint mobility. Pressure is applied with thumbs, palms and feet along the sip sen, the ten energy channels, to dissolve tensions and release blockages. Energy is encouraged to flow freely, nourishing the body and yielding deep therapeutic benefits. The session gives the receiver a feeling of deep relaxation and tranquillity that is invaluable for today’s stressful lifestyles.

history of thai yoga massage
Thai Yoga Massage has its origins in Northern India around the time of the life of the historical Buddha more than 2500 years ago. Developed by Jivaka Kumar Baccha, the physician to the local king, as a deep healing treatment, it is believed to have been transported with Buddhism to Thailand where the massage was, and still is, practiced in Buddhist temples. The massage incorporates spiritual values as it is the practical application of Metta – loving kindness - and is performed with a meditative focus in the present moment.
